Journey, was formed in San Francisco in 1973, by the band’s only constant member, Neal Schon. It is one of the most successful American rock outfits of all time and has sold in excess of 50 million albums worldwide. The band initially played a fusion of jazz and rock in the mid-70s, but later progressed towards the clean, hard, anthemic, stadium AOR sound that it has become renowned for. The peak of their success came in 1981, with the release of the bestselling album Escape, which includes their most well-known song, Don’t Stop Believing. The band dispersed in 1987, with Schon and other members going on to pursue other projects. Journey reformed in 1995, and they have continued to enjoy considerable success, although not on the same scale as their peak years in the 80s. Don’t Stop Believing was at one point the bestselling catalogue track in the history of the iTunes music store. Schon has confirmed that Journey is working on new material, nearly 40 years after they formed.
