The highly influential Roxy Music formed in 1971 in London, England. Since the band’s pivotal 1972 self-titled debut album, Roxy Music’s unique sound, blending 60’s pop with electronics, has proved a massive influence for many punk, new wave, dance and glam rock bands, as well as countless subsequent acts. Besides leaving a lasting mark on the music industry, both artistically in terms of style and musically, the band is responsible for several outstanding albums and numerous classic hit songs. In addition, key members (namely Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno) have gone on to become major musical names in their own right, as solo artists, producers and session musicians. Several of the band’s original members, led by Ferry, announced a long awaited reunion in 2001, but despite several extensive tours and suggestions of a new Roxy Music album, it has yet to materialise.
